Yesterday (Monday 6 March 2023) colleagues from the Plymouth and South Devon (PASD) Freeport and the Marine Business Technology Centre (MBTC) welcomed a high level delegation from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia to Britain’s Ocean City to discuss in depth collaboration around advanced marine innovation, digital connectivity and trade and investment opportunities.
Hosted by MBTC Director, Rob Watson and Migle Masaityte, Science and Innovation Officer for the Baltic States at the British Embassy in Vilnius, the visit gave the delegates a complete insight into the world class facilities, research and innovation that Plymouth and the wider Devon area has to offer.
Of specific joint interest were the PASD Freeport and possible partnership opportunities with the Riga Freeport in Latvia, interaction and use of Smart Sound Plymouth and Smart Sound Connect for future shipping and smart port operations, joint engagement with the University of Plymouth’s Cyber-SHIP Lab and clean propulsion opportunities with the University of Exeter’s Centre for Future Clean Mobility.
